Monday 25

Didn't jog- ran up the hill with Ben piggy back instead.  Went to bed early and didn't watch tv to prevenet overdose.  Fell asleep and let Stanley go out.  (D went to Wales)

Sunday 24th

Had brunch and put D on bus at 1.00pm Went to Humberstone Park with children.  Ben's first time on swings and slide.  he loved it and copied the others on a spider climbing frame too.  they only had roller skates and we agreed if rail strike next week to return in old clothes and with shoes on.  Cara brought me a cuup of tea and supper in bed all beautifully presented.  Watched tv and video solidly Haven't read a book for over 2 weeks.  Too much tv as well as Food

Saturday 23

(jogged) Went to Oakham w Hannah and Ben, Piers with Nathan, Cara w Clare, Children al played with puppies and rabbits, v picturesque.  D tried unsucessfully to unblock bath drain.  Piers has stomach ache.  Susan G stayed night w Cara and they watched OTT with relish.

Tuesday 19th

Jogged round block leaving ben w Maralyn.  She and Fiona had coffee and stayed 2 hrs gossiping.  Schol in Market Harbrough said they's put me on their short list.

Monday 18th

D left with car at 6.45, Children to school w two weeks dinner money paid.  They have a new teacher called Mrs Rees

Sunday 17th

Cara went roller skating with Clare, Amanda and Joanne, Robert & Nathan spent much time ion the house.  D spent day in bed,  feeling unwell.  Malatesta puppy left.

Saturday 16

Children's plane 2 hours late I was paged because "she's left passports on the plane" Children burst on the village.  Robert and Peter Malatesta came.  Clare phoned fr 3/4 hour, All went to bed angellically before 9 o'clock.

Friday 15

(On our way to collect the children from the airport)

Drove to Vivien's- Clare at home- Ben and Mark played pleasantly. Then to Tony and Mayylin's- offered to help when the baby arrives and M said yes please.

Thursday 14th

Railstrike-  Sorted out bedrooms.  D cam home unexpectedly on a bus

Tuesday 12th

Felt b awful.  Spent morning in bed and afternoon feeling sorry for myself.  Ben fantastic, playing on his own and occasionally climbing into bed and higging me, V Low. Offer withdrawn on building plot.

Dudley caught train back to Bristol at 3pm just before someone called to say the Poly was closed.  Cara phoned from America.

Saturday 9

Hangover.  Ate left overs.  Very good view of Total Eclipse of the Moon.  Still v cold and frosty nights

Friday 8th

Spent day cooking Maralyn and Mick cam for supper, bringing Amanda and Joanne...Sat up drinking and listening to records until 3.am

Thursday 7th

Moved furniture and rooms around:  playroom now dining room, Spare room is Children's room.  Piers' room is spare room.

Took Ben to Dr for measles jab but he wasn't well enough.  Coke delivered for fire just as we ran out

Tuesday 5th

V cold.  Puppies stink.  D put them into stable in straw igloo.

Monday 4th

V cold.  Puppies now lap dogmilk. Snow very deep

Sunday 3rd

Snow, frost blizzard.  Very bad weather, bad all over the country

Saturday 2nd

Lottie to Vet again.  Fed puppies, they are greasy and smelly.

 

January 1st

Lottie went to vet again, he have us dog milk supplement,  Fed puppies with syringe. 

 

Thursday 31 December

Katy and Guy went home.  Lottie’s puppies smelt awful, D took her to the vet.   (Fell asleep before midnight)

 

Wednesday 30th December

Children went to America. Stopped to see pregnant Alison (Handley Pritchard) on the way back from the airport

 

30 years ago..

 

(I know this is boring- i deliberately made it so bland that it wouldn;t matter who read it.  Anyway it gets more interesting later in the year (if I keep it up) when we move to Malmesburg and go across Europe to Greece)

In 1982 we lived in Brookside House in Tilton.  I made this tapestry to show who was in the house on that Christmas Day before New Year 1982. Clare, Nathan and Robert were local friends  who dropped in during the afternoon.   RSV was Russell Stockman Vine, we were lucky enough to have all the children with us that year though soon before New Year’s Day they all went off to their other parents.  Guy was 11, Katy 10, Cara 9, Piers 7, Hannah 5 and Ben 1 years old.

This first week is rivetingly boring.  It was a sad cold time, no children,only smelly puppies. (and little Ben of course)
